Flow The main flow in my tank is from two Tunze 6000 Streams hooked up to a Tunze 7095 multicontroller. Having an acrylic tank I drilled holes to mount the Tunzes in the brace around the tank. I have since replaced these tradditional Tunze mounts with sure grip magnetic mounts. They are great and allow me to change the structure of the flow with in my tank. Both the streams are on the right hand side of the tank as you are looking at it, and are set by the controller to alternate between 40% and 100% with one stream at 100% when the other is at 40%. I've also added a Maxi-Jet 900 modded by Ocean-Flo. I've gotten a mod from maxi-jet mods, but this was completely brainless to do and it works fantastic. In fact I'm willing to say that the modded 900 puts out more flow than the 6000 streams. It's on the left hand side of the tank and is also on a sure-grip magnetic mount. It's controlled by my AC III unit and is on for a random amount of time, 0-2 minutes and then off for a random amount of time, 0-2 minutes. The tank also has two Mag 18s as returns from the "sump system". Each Mag 18 is slightly dialed back and each feeds into a Wavy Sea. One Wavy Sea is mounted in the center back of the tank and the other Wavy Sea is on the left hand side of tank. The tanks ends up with a huge amount of flow with the two streams pushing about 1800 gal/hr and the Mags each pushing about 1000-1200 gal/hr making the total flow in the tank about 3500-4000 gal/hr and yes I do have a sand bed. The flow with the Tunzes and the sea swirls is fairly turbulent but there is a definite flow pattern in the tank. |
